Job summary

Dillon Consulting Limited is seeking a Structural (Bridge) CAD Designer/Drafter to join our multidisciplinary team. This new role can be based in Ottawa or London with flexible hours and a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications include a Diploma in Architectural or Engineering Technology and 2–7 years in engineering consulting. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required; Revit/MicroStation knowledge is a plus. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program.
• 2–7 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry.
• Proficient use of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• Knowledge of Revit and/or MicroStation is an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaboration with multidisciplinary team to develop detailed design contract packages.
• Assist project managers and engineers in functional and detailed design of transportation structures.
• Produce detailed design drafting for various project types.
• Prepare construction drawings/documents.
• Perform quantity take-offs for concrete, reinforcement, and steel for complex structures.
• Support contract administration tasks including site observation and submittal reviews.

Responsibilities

Technical Work

• Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff in the development of detailed design contract packages.
• Assistance to project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation structures.
• Completion of detailed design drafting for a variety of project types.
• Application of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce design drawings.
• Preparation of construction drawings/documents.
• Calculation of quantity take-offs for concrete volumes, reinforcement, and miscellaneous steel for complex structures.
• Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information.
• Coordination and completion of site assessments, construction observation and construction management of site documentation.
• Completion of OSIM inspection and reporting.
• Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program. Civil Technician Certificate or CAD Certificate training may also be considered.

Experience

• 2-7 Years of experience in the engineering consulting industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Proficient use of current AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• Knowledge of Revit software and / or Microstation is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
• Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration is considered an asset.

Compensation

$54,700 - $82,100

At Dillon, we believe in transparency. The following salary range is what we expect to offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
