Candidate Profile

The Designer is responsible for the structural analysis and structural design of building components, including commercial, residential, institutional transit, and sports/recreation complexes. The successful candidate is self-motivated, a fast learner, and eager to continually learn and grow. A commitment to providing exceptional client service, teamwork, and developing technical expertise to deliver practical, creative solutions is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out load run downs for structural components.
  • Analyze and design structural components using multiple materials (concrete, steel, masonry, and wood).
  • Ensure quality compliance for your portions of projects by maintaining design/checking notes.
  • Conduct construction reviews and prepare documentation.
  • Perform design checks for other engineers' work (portions of projects).
Professional Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • Degree in civil engineering (structural major).
Experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, including previous internship experience in the construction field is an asset.
  • Experience in a structural engineering firm is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of structural design in steel, concrete, and wood.
  • Experience with heritage structures, temporary works, steel detailing, and construction engineering projects is a strong asset.

  • Ability to conceptualize design with an understanding of constructability.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality output.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.
