Pay $39-49ph INC - $32-40ph T4

Job Description

The Detail Designer II, Structural is responsible for 3D modeling and producing adequate Production Drawings to support production design at Vancouver Shipyards (VSY) in North Vancouver. The Detail Designer II, Structural will ensure that the 3D Model and Production Drawings are generated in accordance with VSY's standards, quality, and engineering processes. This role involves 3D modeling, production design, drawing, and implementing lessons learned.

Duties/Accountabilities

  • Delivers discipline-specific 3D Modelling and Manufacturing Information (MI).
  • Assists with integration decisions and develops design improvements.
  • Prepares Manufacturing Information for all stages of construction.
  • Collaborates with the System Responsible Engineer to resolve design issues.
  • Provides technical support to production.
  • Develops and communicates plans for delivering work on time, monitoring costs and resources.
  • Supports production outputs to ensure work packages align with VSY standards and processes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Associate Design degree, diploma, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Detailed Design within Manufacturing or Heavy Industries.
  • Knowledge of marine structural design, including shipbuilding and production best practices.
  • Knowledge of ship types such as research vessels, fishing vessels, icebreakers, naval auxiliary vessels is a strong asset.
  • Effective communication across disciplines.
  • Strong technical writing skills, capable of producing clear detailed specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Ability to work in Cadmatic Hull is a plus.
  • Experience with Rhino, NavisWorks, and e-Share is desirable.
