About the Role

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer in one of the following locations. This role involves working collaboratively within a team to design, manage, and deliver transportation structural engineering projects for local and nationwide clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentor, manage, and ensure QC/QA for Transportation Structural Team staff.
  • Lead/perform bridge designs, including typical, advanced, and complex projects.
  • Perform structural planning, analysis, and design for transportation projects.
  • Manage bridge design projects involving steel, concrete, foundations, and other structural elements.
  • Serve as a client and project manager, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Provide QC/QA for structural designs and assist in project proposals.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Illinois Licensed Structural Engineer (SE).
  • 8+ years of bridge engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience as Engineer-of-Record in bridge design.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
  • Leadership and communication skills, team-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with IDOT and/or Tollway Bridge projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with complex or railroad structures.
  • Master's in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Project and client management skills.
  • NHI certification for Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as Bentley CONNECT, LEAP Bridge, RISA-3D, etc.
