PAL Aerospace - Structural Assessment Engineer (Fatigue and Damage Tolerance)

PAL Aerospace, a leader in innovative aviation solutions with over forty years of experience, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Structural Assessment - Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer. We are open to applicants with varying levels of experience across Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic Provinces. Employees may work from any of our offices in Eastern Canada, with options for hybrid and remote work depending on the role.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform structural analysis for aircraft modification and repair projects across various aircraft types.
  2. Build and manipulate Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry and meshing techniques.
  3. Conduct classical stress analysis calculations and establish inspection programs based on fatigue and damage tolerance assessments.
  4. Sizings of structural components, parts, and assemblies, ensuring compliance with safety margins.
  5. Support the structural design process to meet quality standards for fatigue and damage tolerance.
  6. Prepare engineering and airworthiness documentation, including analysis reports and certification compliance reports.
  7. Provide structural strength expertise to other engineering functions.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting aircraft development, modifications, or repairs; 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations from Transport Canada, FAA, or EASA is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), FEM software (FEMAP/NASTRAN), and fatigue/damage tolerance software (NASGRO).
  • Familiarity with aircraft structures, static stress analysis, and relevant procedures/publications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
