Summary

Catholic Charities of Acadiana (CCA) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Street Outreach Coordinator to engage, assess, and connect unhoused individuals and families in Lafayette and the surrounding Acadiana region with critical services. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness, building trust, and ensuring access to essential resources. Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct street outreach in the downtown area of Lafayette and surrounding areas, engaging with unhoused individuals and families.
  2. Develop and maintain trusting, supportive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are understood and addressed.
  3. Conduct needs assessments and assist clients in accessing services offered by Catholic Charities of Acadiana (CCA).
  4. Advocate for medical and other essential services on behalf of clients.
  5. Provide transportation services to clients when necessary.
  6. Document client interactions and ensure accurate, timely record-keeping.
  7. Attend required training and professional development sessions as directed by the supervisor.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support outreach efforts and client needs.
Job Qualifications
  1. Education: Minimum of a high school diploma/GED (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  2. At least 2 years of service coordination or related social service experience.
  3. Knowledge of homelessness and housing programs is a plus.
  4. Previous experience providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness is highly desirable.
  5. Strong problem resolution and de-escalation skills.
  6. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and behavior in challenging situations. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  7. Valid Louisiana driver's license and access to an insured motor vehicle for transporting clients.

Job Specifications

  1. Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 100% of the time.
