Job description

Brandt is currently seeking a Strategic Sourcing Engineer - Filtration Expert. The work location is negotiable. The role involves analyzing and initiating product development requests, assessing their feasibility aligned with strategic sourcing strategies, and providing advice for necessary modifications to ensure success. The engineer will serve as a liaison among engineering, strategic sourcing, suppliers, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to eliminate technical barriers affecting quality and delivery of sourced materials. Additionally, the role includes developing and maintaining an effective supplier qualification and evaluation process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Possess strong technical knowledge of mobile filtration processes and applications.
  2. Analyze or initiate product development requests, provide feedback, and manage related projects.
  3. Coordinate between engineering, sourcing, suppliers, procurement, quality, and manufacturing to resolve technical barriers.
  4. Develop and maintain supplier selection, pre-qualification, and performance evaluation processes in collaboration with procurement.
  5. Meet regularly with design and production teams to discuss cost savings and product transformation proposals.
  6. Recommend and assist in redesigning products for cost savings.
  7. Conduct cost savings analyses and prioritize initiatives according to sourcing policies.
  8. Ensure market compatibility of filtration products.
  9. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to pre-qualify and evaluate suppliers through audits and assessments, supporting suppliers in quality improvements.
  10. Work with procurement to ensure smooth transition of approved suppliers and parts into production.
  11. Implement sourcing strategies, develop supplier relationships, resolve issues, reduce risks, and improve quality and costs, ensuring alignment with business goals.

Required Experience

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD, FEA, and other design analysis tools.
  • Strong interpretation skills for blueprints, specifications, GD&T, and manufacturing process planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for cost savings and continuous improvement activities.
