Job description

Brandt is currently looking for a Strategic Sourcing Engineer-Filtration Expert. Work location is negotiable. Responsible to analyze or initiate product development process requests and determine their feasibility as aligned with strategic sourcing strategies. Provides advice and feedback for modifications necessary to ensure success and contributes to managing projects derived from this process. Provides a liaison between engineering, strategic sourcing, suppliers, quality assurance and manufacturing teams to eliminate technical barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of strategically sourced materials. Develops, implements and maintains an effective Quality supplier selection, pre-qualification and performance evaluation process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Strong technical understanding of mobile filtration processes and applications
  2. Responsible to analyze or initiate product development process requests and determine their feasibility as aligned with strategic sourcing strategies, provides advice and feedback for modifications necessary to ensure success, and contributes to managing projects derived from this process
  3. Provides a liaison between engineering, strategic sourcing, suppliers, Procurement, Supply Chain, quality assurance and manufacturing teams to eliminate technical barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of strategically sourced materials
  4. Develops, implements, and maintains an effective Quality supplier selection, pre-qualification, and performance evaluation process, working closely with Procurement
  5. Meets regularly with design and production engineering groups to discuss and evaluate new product cost savings or product transformation proposals obtainable through strategic sourcing initiatives.
  6. Recommends and assists in the design or redesign of products identified as viable cost saving candidates.
  7. Provides cost savings analysis and recommends priorities in accordance with established strategic sourcing policies.
  8. Ensures market compatibility of filtration products
  9. With collaboration with Brandt Quality Assurance, ensures that there is a formal process for pre-qualifying and evaluating suppliers, and leads this process by performing remote or onsite audits and assessments of suppliers as required, including assistance for suppliers in improvement of their existing quality systems.
  10. Works closely with their Procurement partners to ensure a seamless transition of the supplier and / or part(s) once approved for production.
  11. Execute sourcing strategies including development of supplier relationships to quickly resolve issues, reduce risk, improve quality, and decrease total cost. Ensure supplier alignment with the direction of the business.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in Product Design or Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD, FEA and other design analysis tools
  • Strong background in interpretation of blueprints / specifications, GD&T and dimensional metrology, and manufacturing process planning / evaluation
