Job description

Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Strategic Research Engineer.

About the team :

The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve the long-term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.

About the job :

Gain insight into the development trend of operating system technologies, regularly track and gain insights into academic conferences of system software, including OSDI, ASPLOS, and SOSP, capture key technologies in cloud computing, general computing, AI computing, and devices, and output technical insight reports.

Support the company's investment layout in future technology directions.

Assist in organizing workshops and competitions, exploring ways of linking academic communities and open source, including official workshops of OSDI, ASPLOS, and SOSP conferences and newly initiated academic conferences, and setting up Sig in ACM or IEEE.

Participate in activities of academic institutions and organizations such as PC members and Organizing Committee members of OSDI, ASPLOS, and SOSP academic conferences.

Help Huawei explore, identify, and connect top experts in the field.

About the ideal candidate :

Deeply understand and grasp the key research aspects of the operating system field. Rich experience in publishing articles such as OSDI, ASPLOS, and SOSP is an asset.

Education background in Software Development, Software Engineering or related disciplines. Ph.D. degree is an asset.
