Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Strategic Research Engineer.

About the team:

The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve the long-term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.

About the job:

1. Analyze breakthrough technology trends and present to higher-ups and mentors.
2. Recommend and link academic professors and key persons of IEEE/ACM associations with internal experts.
3. Procurement/project management assistance, assisting with the organization of academic workshops.

About the ideal candidate:

1. Has a passion for the ICT industry and an investigative mindset. Actively reach out to breakthrough or promising technologies from North America’s top universities.
2. Regularly produce analysis reports.
3. PhD from CS or EE schools, or have a strong background in computer science, wireless communication, hardware, or optical engineering is an asset.
