Job summary

Upper Canada Forest Products Ltd. in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Purchaser to secure the right products at the right time, price and quality.

You will build trusted supplier relationships, place orders, and collaborate with sales, operations, warehouse and finance to support inventory quality, service levels, and margin performance. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will manage day-to-day purchasing for assigned product categories and suppliers, perform market analysis, execute purchase

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, materials management or related field.
• Experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory planning or supply chain in distribution or related industry.
• Strong commercial judgment and financial acumen with understanding of cost, margin and inventory impacts.
• Experience with ERP or inventory management systems; familiarity with MRP concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review purchase orders for accuracy, authorization and supplier terms.
• Plan and place purchase orders based on demand, inventory targets, lead times and branch priorities.
• Monitor inventory levels, stock availability, aging inventory and risks; propose corrective action.
• Collaborate with sales and operations to align purchasing decisions with forecasts and service levels.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships and manage pricing, lead times and terms.
• Maintain accurate item, supplier, pricing, lead time and PO data in the ERP system.
• Analyze variances, landed costs and inventory trends; provide reports to leadership.
• Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and improve turns and margins.
• Coordinate with finance on invoices, credits and cost discrepancies.
• Evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and alignment with responsible sourcing.
