The Strategic Planning Expert is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic planning and performance monitoring systems. Through their leadership and expertise, this role significantly contributes to the formulation of long-term strategic plans that enable Co-operators to achieve their purpose, vision, and strategic goals. This role also leads special key work assignments to address significant strategic challenges and opportunities as they arise. The Strategic Planning Expert must possess a comprehensive understanding of the company's financial position and competitive landscape, as well as threats and opportunities faced by the business.
How you will create impact :
- Provide subject matter expertise in strategic planning, leveraging best practices, frameworks, and methodologies to effectively guide senior management and cross-functional teams through the enterprise strategic planning process.
- Facilitate business planning processes in collaboration with business leaders and cross functional teams to help translate high-level goals into actionable plans that connect back to the enterprise strategy.
- Develop performance measurement and reporting systems. Monitor progress toward the achievement of strategic goals and key performance indicators, and adjust strategies as needed, showcasing advanced critical thinking skills.
- Understand business implications of decisions, balancing external factors with internal realities and provide expert advice on strategic direction.
- Advise senior management on strategic decisions by providing insights and recommendations that influence the organization's direction and priorities.
- Conduct extensive market research and competitive analysis to gather critical insights about the industry, competitive landscape, client behaviours and emerging trends.
- Analyze complex situations and make informed decisions or recommendations that align with the company's long-term vision and objectives.
- Provide subject matter expertise for communications about our strategy.

To join our team :
- You have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Having a Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
- You have at least 10 years of Strategic planning experience. Exposure to Insurance or Financial Services industry is preferred.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Expert facilitation, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to challenge and influence for elevated outcomes.
- Strong ability to convey complex ideas and data in a way that drives alignment and informed decision making.
- Highly specialized, with several years of experience developing strategic plans and evolving the enterprise strategy function.
- Ability to gather and interpret complex data from a range of sources, including market research, competitive analysis and financial reports
