Position Description

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for a two-year Contractually Limited Appointment position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor. The position will begin on August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Management or a relevant discipline from a reputable institution by the time of appointment. Exceptional candidates with a Ph.D. in other disciplines may also be considered. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of teaching excellence and a strong commitment to innovation in teaching. This includes a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice, evidence of effective communication and presentation skills, teaching courses delivered in-person, online, and in blended formats, teaching experience with the case method, and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the School’s academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations. They will be expected to teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate (e.g., MBA) programs that involve the development of students’ essential and professional skills, strategic integration, and engagement with industry and community partners, including but not limited to the courses DeGroote Student Experience and Development III and IV ( COM 3GR0, COM 4GR3) , and Essential Business Skills I : Effective Decision Making, Communication and Team Success (MBA D610) .

The teaching requirement is normally ten sections per academic year, including multiple sections of the same course as appropriate. They will also be expected to support the School’s initiatives within the business and other external communities and provide service to Area, Faculty, and University-wide committees.

The Strategic Management Area is committed to excellence in both research and teaching and boasts several award-winning instructors. The DeGroote School of Business is one of six faculties at McMaster where we believe in experiential learning, complementing classroom studies with hands-on experience. The School employs approximately 90 full-time faculty members with a total student enrollment of 4300 across the Commerce, MBA, specialized Master’s programs, PhD, and EMBA programs.
