Job summary

BDO in Canada is seeking an Associate, M&A and Capital Markets to join our Advisory team. This replacement role supports high‑impact transactions and client outcomes through marketing materials, target lists, and financial modeling.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in audit, valuation, corporate finance, or M&A advisory, a Finance/Accounting degree, CPA/CFA/CBV designation, and strong MS Office skills. Travel within Canada and North America is required; you are detail‑oriented and proactive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, with a CPA, CFA, or CBV designation.
• 2-3 years of experience in audit, valuation, corporate finance, M&A advisory, or other related professional services.
• Highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
• Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and a solid foundation of accounting and corporate finance knowledge.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours and travel within Canada and North America, as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare transaction marketing materials, such as teasers, confidential information memorandums, and management presentations.
• Prepare lists of potential acquisition targets, buyers, and investors.
• Perform in-depth financial analyses, including analyzing and understanding the sustainability of earnings and cash flows, operating working capital requirements, and key value drivers.
• Prepare financial models including historical and forecast operating models, net working capital calculations, and other transaction-specific analyses.
• Conduct market, industry, and company research to support transactions and business development activities.
• Communicate with transaction counterparties including sellers, buyers, accountants, legal counsel, and other advisors.
• Support various business development initiatives through the preparation of pitch materials and marketing content.
