Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Toronto's subway system to get people where they need to go better, faster, and easier. We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and inclusive Strategic HR Business Partner (SHRBP) to deliver impactful people strategies that drive business results and elevate the employee experience across the enterprise. Supporting our Corporate Functions including Legal, Enterprise, Commercial Real Estate, IT, Marketing, and Payments, this role partners with senior leaders (Directors, Vice Presidents, and Executive Vice Presidents) as a trusted advisor providing strategic HR guidance, planning, and change leadership aligned with organizational priorities.

What will I be doing

  • Strategic HR Programs & Initiatives: Support senior divisional leadership in talent and performance management, strategic workforce planning, employee and labour relations, succession planning, employee engagement, leadership coaching, internal communications, and organizational design and transformation.
  • Data Analytics & Fluency: Utilize HR metrics, collect and analyze data to proactively identify issues and trends, and develop customized, data-driven HR solutions.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations issues with clients (e.g., workplace disputes), including leading non-WHD investigations.
  • HR Policy & CoE Partnerships: Provide ongoing strategic HR partnership to business leaders on HR programs, practices, policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements, including interpretation of policies, risk identification, and recommended solutions; act as liaison with HR COEs to support comprehensive service delivery.
  • Change Management: Support clients with development and implementation of change management and intervention strategies for major projects and transformational plans with HR implications.
  • HR Coach & Leadership: Provide leadership, technical guidance, training, coaching, and mentoring to HR Generalists.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and manage interdisciplinary teams to improve processes and programs for clients and within HR.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need

  • Completion of a university degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Progressively responsible generalist HR experience, including performance management, talent management, business transformation, organizational design, policies, and legislation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for presentations, consultations, and reports.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills to coach and guide HR Generalists, HR partners, and senior leaders, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational design, change management, and project management principles for leading transformation projects.

Nice to Have (Assets) :

  • Masters degree in Organizational Development, Adult Education, Human Resources, or related discipline.
  • Certifications such as CHRP/CHRL, CTDP, PROSCI (Change Management), or PMP (Project Management).
