Job summary

Stevenson & White in Ottawa seeks a Controller to lead the accounting function, mentor a small finance team, and advise senior leadership on financial strategy and growth. You will oversee close processes, reporting, and compliance while driving process improvements and AI initiatives.

The ideal candidate has CPA credentials, 6+ years of accounting experience, and strong ASPE knowledge, with construction industry experience considered an asset.

Qualifications

• CPA designation completed or in progress preferred.
• Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accurate reporting.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts and business plans.
• Manage cash-flow, banking relationships, financing, working capital and treasury operations.
• Oversee project accounting including WIP, revenue recognition, job costing and profitability analysis.
• Develop and strengthen financial policies, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Drive finance systems improvement, automation and AI initiatives to enhance reporting.
• Provide leadership to the accounting team and partner with senior leadership on strategic planning.
