Job Title: Strategic Finance Consultant (Part-Time or Potential Full-Time)

Client: A growing real estate investment and property management firm

Compensation: Approx. $75/hour or $150K FTE (flexible depending on experience)

About the Opportunity

Our client, a dynamic and growing real estate investment and property management group, is seeking a seasoned finance professional to support their leadership team on a part-time basis (3–4 days per week). This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with deep operational accounting experience — someone who can guide systems improvement, support governance, and mentor internal staff, while staying hands-on enough to execute and implement.

There is also potential for this position to grow into a full-time role if the right candidate brings additional strategic value.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Governance & Leadership

Provide strategic support to the President and finance leadership in planning, financial oversight, and internal controls

Lead or advise on governance structures, reporting improvements, and cross-functional collaboration

Work with senior management to align financial strategy with business growth goals

Systems & Process Enhancement

Assess current financial systems and recommend or lead improvements for increased efficiency

Participate in or oversee software implementations and process streamlining

Support clean-up and catch-up work, ensuring accurate and timely financial data

Mentor and coach the existing Controller and accounting staff

Build capacity within the team through documentation, support, and process clarity

Offer senior-level judgment while encouraging a culture of continuous improvement

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and reporting where needed

Engage with both strategic projects and operational support without an “ivory tower” approach

Be the steadying hand during transitions, growth, or systems changes

Ideal Candidate Profile

CPA, CA or CPA, CMA/CGA designation

10+ years of progressive finance experience, with recent experience in real estate, property management, construction, or asset-based organizations

Track record of strategic financial leadership in growing businesses

Experience in mentoring teams, improving reporting systems, and driving governance

Confident in dealing with both high-level planning and ground-level execution

Proficient in modern ERP or accounting systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, Yardi, QuickBooks, etc.)

Comfortable in a flexible, evolving role that could expand in scope

Why Join?

Part-time schedule with flexibility and potential to grow into a broader role

Strategic influence in a privately owned, entrepreneurial company

Be part of a committed, values-driven leadership team

Compensation aligned with senior-level expertise ($75/hour or $150K FTE equivalent)
