The Opportunity

Our corporate finance team is seeking a highly analytical and strategic analyst for our Corporate Planning and Evaluation function, reporting to the VP of Corporate Finance and Commercial Marketing. This individual will support functions including Corporate Planning, Corporate & Business Development, Treasury, Finance, and Risk.

The successful candidate will contribute to strategic planning, performance evaluation, and decision-making processes by analyzing financial and operational data, developing financial models, and preparing executive-level presentations. Other duties include researching, tracking, and analyzing key capital markets, industry, and business metrics in Canada and the U.S., as well as industry competitors.

What you'll do

  • Develop sophisticated financial models to forecast the company's financial performance.
  • Contribute to the corporate model and financial plan, driving decision-making through sound modeling, data analysis, research, and business judgment.
  • Understand key drivers of variance in performance and report these variances to leadership with recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to understand opportunities and risks to South Bow's financial plan, considering macroeconomic factors.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear visualizations and narratives to communicate findings to executive leadership.
  • Analyze the impact of different business strategies, acquisitions, capital investments, and initiatives through scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to gather data, understand business drivers, and incorporate assumptions into financial models.
  • Collaborate with accounting, treasury, and other finance teams to ensure data and model accuracy.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in financial modeling and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Progression towards CFA, CBV, and/or CPA designation(s) preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, or investment banking.
  • Proven ability to build complex, dynamic financial models in Excel or similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into insights.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for conveying financial information effectively.
  • Proficient in data visualization tools such as PowerBI
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario/sensitivity modeling.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and ERP software.
