Job summary

City of Iqaluit is seeking a strategic Director of Engineering and Capital Planning to lead municipal infrastructure planning, capital project delivery, asset management, and community development initiatives.

Reporting to the Deputy CAO - Infrastructure and Planning, this senior role oversees major infrastructure projects, secures funding, and provides leadership to technical teams across the organization. This is a full-time, permanent leadership opportunity in Canada’s Arctic capital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering (eligible for or registered with NAPEG).
• Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, municipal infrastructure, public works, or capital project management.
• Strong knowledge of municipal operations, asset management, funding programs, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-year capital infrastructure programs and capital spending.
• Identify funding opportunities and manage government funding reporting.
• Direct capital project planning, procurement, design review, and execution.
• Develop and oversee operating and capital budgets; monitor expenditures.
