Our Cybersecurity division is on the lookout for a dynamic Strategic Coordinator (PS4) with exceptional public relations skills and strong strategic and critical thinking abilities. In this role, you'll provide top-notch services and support to clients while collaborating closely with communications colleagues across the Ministry.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic communication advice and develop products that meet public-facing and Ministry communications needs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan for CyberAlberta.
  • Research, write, and edit a variety of communications products, including speeches, key messages, annual reports, and digital content.
  • Leverage social media and digital platforms to effectively reach and engage our audience. You'll also manage the branch's LinkedIn account.
  • Use data and metrics to inform your communications planning and evaluate the success of initiatives.
  • Apply creativity and innovation to tackle projects and solve complex problems.

As a Strategic Coordinator, you'll need to understand the goals and priorities of the Government of Alberta and how they align with ministry deliverables and stakeholder needs. Your proven relationship-building skills will be essential for developing networks and becoming a trusted advisor in areas such as issues management, communications planning, and event planning.

  • Experience in creating compelling visual presentations (slide decks) and leveraging graphic design tools to effectively convey ideas and information.
  • Strong task and time management skills with exceptional ability to manage high volumes of time sensitive work.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A related university degree (e.g., Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, etc.), supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Related experience in issues management and/or writing and editing.

Assets:

  • A background in writing, editing and/or reviewing government correspondence.
  • Strong working knowledge of government/division initiatives, protocols, strategic direction and priorities.
  • Experience creating visual presentations (slide decks) and leveraging graphic design tools (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign).
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio)

Equivalencies are:

  • A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; or a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in lieu of formal education.
  • This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
  • Traveling will consist of less than 25% of the work schedule to attend a monthly in-person meeting in Edmonton.
  • While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
