Job summary

The Government of Alberta, Ministry of Children and Family Services, is seeking a Contract Specialist to plan, procure and manage contracts and grants supporting services for children and families. Based in Edmonton with consideration for other locations, you will work in a high‑volume environment to ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements.

You will lead stakeholder engagements, evaluations and negotiations, build cross‑functional partnerships, and advance procurement

Qualifications

• University graduation in related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience.
• Equivalency: related education or experience considered on the basis of education/experience
• Experience in planning, budgeting, resource allocation, financial acumen, preferably in a public sector context.
• Experience with legislative/statutory requirements relevant to procurement and contract management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for briefings and presentations to senior officials.

Responsibilities

• Plan, procure, evaluate, manage contracts and grants.
• Review procurement processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Lead stakeholder sessions to align deliverables with program goals.
• Prepare briefing notes, reports, and recommendations for decision-makers.
• Collaborate with Indigenous partners to reflect cultural considerations in procurement.
