Job summary

IT Solutions, a fast-growing MSP in Canada, seeks a Strategic Advisor to maximize IT investments and align technology with business goals for a diverse client list. This temporary 12-month role requires strong communication, project management, and a customer-first mindset.

You will translate IT concepts into business drivers, manage client expectations, and work with limited supervision while maintaining organized, timely client interactions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in IT account management or technical industry, preferably for a managed service provider.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, computer science, or related fields.
  • General understanding of on-premises and cloud-based networking environments.
  • Understanding of licensing such as SPLA, O365, M365, and Azure.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with a variety of businesses, technologies, and personalities.

Responsibilities

  • Committed to act as the primary client advocate ensuring client satisfaction and client retention.
  • Serve as the trusted technology advisor responsible for defining and directing IT strategy for distinct client list of small to mid-sized clients.
  • Create and deliver bi-annual Strategic Advisor report and 5-year roadmaps for managed clients.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of clients’ business to align technology recommendations and solutions with business goals.
  • Host and attend regular cadence meetings with clients, while documenting each client interaction in a timely and accurate matter.
  • Perform IT risk planning and implement management strategies to improve overall security posture.
  • Engage in IT budget planning and management of day-to-day IT operations.
  • Ownership and management of accurate client invoicing and quarterly true-ups.
  • Manage and maintain C-level and senior-level relationships with medium and large organizations.
  • Regularly set and follow through with expectations of C-level contacts via effective verbal and written communication.
  • Collaborate with the team of Strategic Advisors, leadership, and VP of Customer Success to interpret account management processes, goals, challenges, and concerns.
  • Managed documenting technical environments in a consistent and organized fashion.
  • Balance client account priorities with the company’s internal business processes.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in IT account management or technical industry, preferably working for a managed service provider, with a keen understanding of the business model and best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Communications, Computer Science, or related fields
  • General understanding of on-premises and cloud-based networking environments
  • General understanding of Microsoft licensing (SPLA, O365, M365, Azure, etc.)
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with a variety of businesses, technologies, and personalities.
  • Strong presentation skills both in-person and virtually using MS Teams
  • Proficient in a client-facing role with commitment to outstanding service and support
  • Proven ability and to stay current with the latest technology trends, shifts in the market.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the latest versions of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, Office 365, VMware, Citrix, SANs, public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Proven ability to follow established processes to produce standard results.
  • Excellent follow-through skills and the ability to anticipate and address business needs proactively.
  • Possess a strong work ethic; self-motivated with a desire to take initiative and look for ways to improve processes and create efficiencies; have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills in managing through multiple priorities with overlapping tasks across multiple businesses.
  • Team-oriented attitude balanced with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework/ITIL certified
  • Working understanding of NIST Framework Standards
  • Working understanding of compliance requirements and controls such as HIPAA, PII, PHI, PCI/DSS, etc.
Compensation Package:
  • This position is eligible for a base salary of $60,000 - $95,000 CAN annually.
