Summary

The Store Manager provides day to day management of the store which includes growing sales, staffing, merchandising, expense control, providing a safe environment for employees and customers and delivering a superior shopping experience for the customer. Also, the Store Manager operates the store within established Company policy, government legislation and collective agreements.

Responsibilities
  1. To achieve or exceed weekly, period and fiscal year store goals and objectives, including sales, profit, margin targets, shrink targets and labour targets.
  2. Works with the District Manager to implement various merchandising programs, procedures and processes designed to maximize the operational efficiencies and profitability of the store.
  3. Works with Department Managers to establish productivity goals and operational standards. Ensure merchandise is ordered and displayed according to company planograms.
  4. Ensures the store is maintained in accordance with all health and safety regulations as established by the company and regulatory authorities.
  5. Provides leadership by hiring, training, directing and developing a staff that is customer focused. Ensures that all actions and events portray a customer friendly shopping environment.
  6. Actively utilize new technology initiatives ensuring own and staff proficiency.
  7. Maintains a pulse on competitive activity in the local market area and providing recommendations to Operations to overcome competitive disadvantages.
  8. Actively participate in store based initiatives designed to enhance community involvement and enhance the store's image as a supporter of community activities.
  9. Create and maintain a strong working relationship with outside vendors.
  10. Create and maintain a strong working relationship with union business representatives - responsible for first stage grievance handling.
  11. Ensure store compliance with all legislative and regulatory bodies (ie: ESA, Human Rights, CFIA).
Eligibility
  1. College or University education
  2. 3 to 5 years progressive management experience
  3. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  4. Good business acumen
  5. Strong communication and organizational skills
  6. Strong leadership skills
  7. Strong time management skills
