Job description

  • Oversee daily store operations, supervise employees, and manage inventory.
  • Ensure staff levels meet operational needs; recruit quality team members, provide training, and build talent.
  • Coach and mentor with respect and kindness to create a positive working environment and strong team culture for both staff and customers.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members to inspire and motivate them to be customer obsessed, build loyalty, and foster solid collaboration within the team.
  • Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews, make recommendations for pay increases and promotions, and provide performance counseling or terminations as necessary.
  • Prepare payroll timesheets and work schedules.
  • Act as the liaison between management and team members.
  • Maximize sales through plus selling and merchandising programs; develop sales strategies to grow profitability, maintain product mix and inventory levels, and ensure proper pricing and display.
  • Review and analyze the store’s financial statements to monitor trends and implement proactive measures if underperforming.
  • Submit daily / weekly reports, handle deposits, and balance deliveries / inventory.
  • Maximize net after selling by increasing sales, controlling expenses, managing shortages, and improving gross profit.
  • Create a positive public brand image by maintaining an appealing store appearance inside and out.
  • Coordinate maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure all employees operate in accordance with health and safety policies, and that the store has a current health and safety representative.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, federal laws, and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required by management and meet deadlines.

Education & Experience

Post-secondary education combined with at least one year of management / supervisor experience in QSR / retail / grocery service industry, or approximately three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Effective employee training, coaching, and conflict management skills.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-oriented team player.
  • Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for deposits and store travel.
  • Strong communication skills; proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Willingness to transfer to other stores within the market as needed.

Physical Requirements

The ability to multi-task, perform repeated bending, standing, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. These physical requirements may be listed as bona fide occupational qualifications, consistent with the Canada Human Rights Act, which may restrict employment of individuals with certain disabilities if they prevent the performance of essential job functions.

Decision Making & Problem Solving

Requires the ability to make decisions related to daily store operations, staffing, performance management, employee development, expense control, product mix, and merchandising.
