Job summary

Sobeys is seeking a Manager, Design and Store Planning to lead design across our grocery stores. You’ll guide a team of design professionals, collaborate with Real Estate, Construction, and Operations, and ensure design aligns with the Capital Plan and brand standards.

The role requires 8+ years in store planning/design, proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit, and strong leadership, communication, and budgeting skills. Hybrid work model in a retail network supports project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Construction or Architectural Technology.
• 8+ years of experience in store planning/design, retail/grocery preferred.
• PM/leadership experience in architectural/design environments.
• Strong knowledge of Building Code requirements and local regulations.
• Ability to guide consultants and make informed design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new, expanded, and renovated retail stores.
• Provide direction to Design Staff in drawings and plans execution.
• Collaborate with Regional and National teams to meet project objectives.
• Oversee staffing, onboarding, workload planning, and performance management.
• Manage external design consultants to ensure on-time, on-budget deliverables.
• Support project schedules and cost management with other functions.
• Conduct site reviews and participate in signoffs and post‑mortems.
