Job Description

The Pet Valu family of stores includes Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol and Total Pet, making us one of the largest retail operations in North America dedicated to providing families with food and supplies for pets including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals.

We partner with local shelters, rescues, and charities for adoption events, in-store adoptions (select stores), pet food bank programs, and through our national donation drives and fundraising campaigns.

Job Overview

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will coach and develop your team to deliver excellent service to Pet Parents, helping them find the right nutrition and solutions for their pets. You will be part of a passionate team of Pet Experts and enjoy the rewards of pet care.

What You Do
  • Ensure customer service standards are met; maintain courteous community relationships
  • Manage staff including recruiting, scheduling, training, and coaching
  • Ensure adherence to operational standards and procedures
  • Coordinate inventory, store and safety audits, minor repairs, and paperwork
  • Achieve targeted business results
  • Perform other duties as required
What You Bring
  • At least 2 years of customer service and retail management experience

  • Outgoing personality with strong customer service skills
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to coach employees on sales and service techniques

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
