Job summary

Join a charitable organization dedicated to preserving Muskoka's steamship history! As part of a seasonal team, you will operate and maintain North America's oldest operating Royal Mail Ship, the RMS Segwun. Job description

Muskoka Steamships features the 96 passenger historic steamship RMS Segwun, built in 1887 and North America’s oldest operating Royal Mail Ship, the stunning 216 passenger Wenonah II, built in 2002, and the newly electrified Wanda III. Sightseeing, Dining, and Private cruises are offered on Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau, and Joseph.

We are a charitable organization preserving the history of the steamship era in Muskoka with RMS Segwun as the crown jewel of our fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining steam engine in a marine setting.
  • Maintaining the fire for the boiler by adding coal.
  • Operating and maintaining ship systems including electrical, fire, and plumbing.
  • Performing other general maintenance as required.

Experience

  • Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn.
  • Positive attitude and desire to help maintain a historic steamship.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, with capabilities in heavy lifting.

Full training will be provided.

This is a seasonal position in Gravenhurst, ON starting May and going to late October.
