Detailed Job Description

Reporting to the Food Procurement Coordinator, this position is responsible for the day-to-day procurement, organization, and delivery of food and related products for the Culinary Arts & Professional Food Studies Department.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Order, receive, and check standard food and related products against purchase orders.
  2. Manage area requisitions and invoices.
  3. Ensure substitutions for shortages are acceptable or return unacceptable products, and ensure proper credits are received.
  4. Maintain clear communication with instructors and team members via email, phone, in person, texts, and Microsoft Teams.
  5. Handle and store perishable products appropriately.
  6. Clean and maintain receiving areas, docks, and storage areas.
  7. Assist in reviewing invoices for accuracy against contracts.
  8. Conduct scheduled inventory counts as required.
  9. Train, organize workflow, and guide support team members.
  10. Be available to start as early as 6:30 am or work until 4:15 pm for shift changes or coverage.
  11. Ensure all duties comply with NAIT audit standards.
  12. Perform other administrative duties as needed.
Skills & Abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to provide solutions.
  • Proficiency with computers and willingness to learn new software or cloud-based programs.
  • Availability for some evenings/weekends.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and flatbed trolley.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Food Handler's certificate or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of related experience in ordering, receiving, storage, and dispatching in a large food service environment.
  • Experience in a large institutional food service setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Food Service guidelines, Food Handling Safety, Sanitation, and HACCP.
  • Understanding of Food Safety Regulations, WHMIS, NAIT purchasing policies, and OHS guidelines.
  • Equivalencies may be considered; a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Applicants with international credentials should have them evaluated by WES or IQAS.

Remuneration: $45,091.80 - $56,284.02 annually, plus benefits. (Classification – Stockkeeper II).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
