An established industry player is seeking an IV-Room Coordinator to ensure compliance with USP <797> standards and oversee the IV Room operations. - The IV-Room Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Faulkner Hospital Pharmacy IV Room services meet USP <797> compliance. This includes staying knowledgeable in all areas of sterile products manufacturing, instructing new IV room staff, monitoring staff sterile technique, and updating staff on procedural changes.
- Responsibilities also include assisting vendors servicing the IV Room (Cleaning, Environmental Monitoring, etc.), processing medication orders entered by prescribers, and providing medications promptly and accurately for patient administration. The role involves supplying pertinent, timely, and accurate information to healthcare workers and patients for safe medication use.
- The IV-Room Coordinator fulfills all requirements of the Staff Pharmacist role and is primarily responsible for ensuring IV Room compliance with USP <797> standards. They train and oversee all IV personnel training, coordinate daily IV Room operations efficiently, and serve as a resource on IV Additive processes for hospital staff.
- Collaborating with the Pharmacy Director, the Coordinator strives to improve the IV Additive program's functioning and service. They also maintain competency in the main pharmacy and clinical areas, attending IV-related continuing education annually.
- The role includes ensuring staff competency in the IV Room per USP <797>, ensuring adherence to SOPs, assisting in developing Drug Administration Guidelines, and completing special projects assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
