Steamfitter/Pipefitter Apprentice - MEG Energy

Located in the Southern Athabasca region, MEG’s Christina Lake Project is a multi-phased project approximately 150 kilometers South of Fort McMurray in Northeast Alberta. Comprised of approximately 200 square kilometers of leases, this SAGD operation currently has regulatory approvals in place to produce approximately 210,000 bpd. All workers will be staying at the state-of-the-art Poplar Ridge Lodge, which boasts a gym, rec area, commissary, laundry facility, Wi-Fi, cable, custom sandwiches, as well as full breakfasts and dinners. We have an amazing, experienced site team at MEG Energy who have safety and efficient work practices at the top of mind.

Jardeg is recruiting Pipefitter Apprentice 2 to 4s to join the team at MEG Energy Capital Projects on site near Conklin, Alberta. Temporary full-time positions. Embrace a well-balanced schedule, working 8-days on and 6-days off rotation, with each workday consisting of 11 hours. Drive-in/drive-out to site with Travel Allowance provided.

Currently, a $500 ($250 each way) Travel Allowance is offered with the requirement to drive to and from site each shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving and bending of pipes, valves and fittings.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems.
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition.
