STE Local Immigration Partnership Manager
Position: Full time – 35 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Settlement and Wellness
Start date: August 25, 2025
Position Summary:
The St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership Manager will build and foster community relationships. They will develop and provide the coordination and framework of a collective action project to increase the capacity of partners for collaboration and strategic planning to foster welcoming communities and support for newcomers in the County of Elgin and the City of St. Thomas. They will look at ways to enhance economic, social, and civic participation for all newcomers and work with community stakeholders to implement the initiatives. By providing awareness and education of the value newcomers bring to Elgin County, they will encourage and engage the community and human service providers in the settlement process. The position will be located at the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin reporting to the Director of Settlement and Wellness and be advised and directed by the St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership Council.

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, and/or any related area including project management experience.
- Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal social policy and knowledge of current immigration issues.
- Understanding of social and economic issues.
- Understanding of the issues relating to settlement in smaller, rural communities.
- Understand and appreciate cultural diversity and sensitivities.
- Strong skills in communication, research, preparing, and presenting reports.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Job Duties:
- Maintain and develop the St. Thomas-Elgin Immigrant Partnership Council consisting of community stakeholders who are committed to community cooperation and advocacy
- Revise the governance (TOR) as required
- Recruit membership to implement strategic actions
- Represent STELIP at community tables and advocate for immigrant and newcomer equitable service provision
- Identify systemic barriers and work to develop solutions
- Develop resources that address barriers including local tools and resources, community services, system guides
- Build connections for STELIP in the community (employers, service providers, government, community) to increase the reach and influence
- Attend networking opportunities
- Keep current on the local, national, and international immigration trends, economic opportunities for newcomers, and services.
- Collaborate and develop the agreed upon strategic actions consistent with the local needs and research results.
- Develop and manage roles, responsibilities, and timelines for implementation of the strategies
- Work with the Partnership Council and any sub-committees to create communication pieces, media, releases, and project updates for the community
- Plan and facilitate community events to increase networking opportunities for newcomers, raise awareness
- Develop and coordinate project activities to achieve deliverables as outlined and monitor project budget, cash flow, providing monthly financial feedback in consultation with management
- Prepare and submit minutes for respective meetings, narrative reports on project activities, activities of the council, and complete required reporting
- Participate and contribute to communities of practice, consult and provide liaison with other Local Immigration Partnerships.
- Support project staff in all areas of the project and related partnerships.
