Job summary

McGill University’s Powerhouse Unit - Downtown Campus seeks a maintenance attendant to maintain and repair equipment and instruments at the thermal power plant. The role covers daily upkeep of all air conditioning and refrigeration machines and ensures smooth plant operation in a busy campus environment. Reporting to the supervisor or their replacement, you will work Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m.

to 2:15 p.m., with a 12:00–12:30 p.m. lunch.

Qualifications

• Hold a 2nd class steam and B refrigeration fixed machinery mechanic certificate issued by the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment and instruments related to the maintenance activities.
• Perform daily maintenance of all air conditioning and refrigeration machines in the plant.

Position Summary

Reporting to the immediate supervisor, the thermal power plant manager or their replacement, the maintenance attendant is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and instruments related to their activities. The incumbent is also responsible for the daily maintenance of all air conditioning and refrigeration machines in the plant.

Qualifications

Hold a 2nd class steam and B refrigeration fixed machinery mechanic certificate issued by the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec.

Additional Details

Status: Permanent, Full-time Allowances: Premium of $5/hour Hours of work: Monday to Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Meal period: 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. The incumbent will be required to wear a mask and other required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in designated areas.
