An exciting opportunity to participate in the 'StandUp' collaborative exhibition, where photographers can showcase their work and engage with larger social themes. This exhibition, hosted by an innovative collective, aims to use photography as a powerful medium for storytelling, resilience, and social commentary. Artists will have the chance to connect with peers and present their unique perspectives, contributing to a meaningful dialogue through their art. If you are passionate about photography and want to stand up for a cause, this is the perfect platform for you to shine and make an impact.
SilverFish Photography Collective is seeking to collaborate with Gallery 44 members for a travelling exhibition with the theme StandUp. This exhibition will feature the 12 members of SilverFish Photography Collective and up to 12 members from Gallery 44.
To be considered for this project, members will need to submit an outline of their ideas or interest in the theme as well as mock-ups or samples of their previous work.
Please keep in mind that in the Production Gallery space is limited to 24 artists' work on display (56 running feet). While we really like big pieces, they may not be suitable for this exhibition.

StandUp
Our exhibition will try to affect or comment on larger social changes while also making space for those involved to stand up for themselves. We want to use the storytelling power of photography and photo-based art to go beyond the litany of images we are inundated with today and really say something about the world, to stand up for a cause or show how others are standing up to fight for what they believe in. We acknowledge that a person's personal struggles can also be of great value when spoken about in a public forum.
StandUp uses photography as a catalyst for communication; telling stories of struggle, resistance, resilience, and strength. By bringing together photographers from New Brunswick and Ontario, we will show that art unites us all and that our experiences in this hyper-connected time are very similar.
SilverFish is a collective of 12 photographers from Fredericton, NB, that was established in 2000 out of enthusiasm for photography and a desire to exhibit their work publicly. They have had over 40 exhibitions in this time and have been published in PhotoEd.
Gallery 44 acknowledges that it is situated on stolen land. We work and create on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. This land is home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis and is protected by the Dish with One Spoon wampum agreement—a treaty that extends to Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations and invites us to share the land peacefully through mutual cooperation. Gallery 44 is inspired by the spirit of this agreement and through our work, seeks to share space and build equitable and reciprocal relationships across communities.
