Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Our Facilities Architecture and Engineering (FAE) office is seeking an Analyst, Architecture Standards. Reporting to the Senior Manager, FAE Architecture Standards, this role supports and coordinates the creation and consultation for architectural design standards associated with capital infrastructure projects to prioritize customer experience and support corporate objectives through architecture and design, and support the consistent application of those elements across the organization.

Up to 16 months Contract Role

What will I be doing
  • Researches, analyzes, and coordinates the development, preparation, revision, and interpretation of standards aimed at achieving design excellence in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design on public transit projects.
  • Coordinates the procurement of research and consulting services from individuals, corporations, and/or academic institutions related to design excellence, including defining scope, estimating budget, delineating selection criteria, and overseeing the selection process.
  • Reviews external consultant services work to ensure deliverables are aligned with agreement terms and timelines.
  • Coordinates studies and design-related projects, such as for transit-oriented development, with internal and external stakeholders and consultants, including the development of project plans.
  • Prepares a variety of draft reports, studies, briefing materials, and presentation findings for senior staff and management to address architecture and urban standards related topics and assess findings and possible impacts on Metrolinx objectives.
  • Coordinates workshops and stakeholder meetings to liaise with various stakeholders, including internal business units and external organizations.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Completion of a degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Landscape Architecture, or Urban Design, or any combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Practical experience balancing architectural design excellence with functional imperatives, including operations, maintenance, and construction management standards and practices, including the ability to understand construction, operating, and maintenance documents.
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural design, preferably in transit facilities.
  • Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) or equivalent professional accreditation is an asset. This may include intern architects working towards their registration.
  • Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) or other environmental sustainability accreditation/experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of contract law, the Ontario Building Code (OBC), Environmental Assessment Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and accessibility standards is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the strategic challenges of working within a Design-Build-Finance-Maintain procurement model is an asset.
