Job summary

ZyTech Building Systems in Airdrie, AB is seeking a Stair Builder to assemble prefabricated stairs and participate in shop maintenance. You will work under the Production Manager and contribute to QC and safety programs.

The role requires at least 1 year of carpentry/framing experience, ability to read English, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Steel-toed boots and PPE are provided. We offer health and dental coverage, a company pension plan, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of carpentry/framing or related experience is required.
• Use and maintain various hand tools and pneumatic tools.
• Previous construction experience considered an asset.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the day.
• Basic math skills and the ability to use an imperial tape measure is required.
• Steel-toed work boots and PPE will be provided.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Cut all material for packages.
• Inspect and measure precut lumber for length and QC/ SOPs.
• After completing an order, proceed to build subsequent orders or report to Production Manager for instructions.
• Maintain organization of tools, materials and workstation; dispose of waste.
• Regular inspection and maintenance of tools and machinery; report issues to Production Manager.
• All other duties as assigned by Production Manager.

Job description

ZyTech is looking for a Stair Builder for our location inAirdrie, AB.Reporting to department supervisor, the stair builder is responsible for the timely and accurate assembly of prefabricated stairs as well as participating in routine shop maintenance and involvement in the ZyTech’s Quality Control (Q.C.) and Health/Safety programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cut all material for packages
• Inspect and/or measure precut lumber for proper length and possible damage or other irregularities associated with quality control and standard operating procedures
• Upon completing an order, the builder will proceed to build subsequent orders or report to the Production Manager for further instructions
• Thorough and complete organization of tools, materials and workstation and the cleaning and/or disposal of waste is required at all times
• Regular inspection and maintenance as required for tools and machinery, and any problems or irregularities to be reported immediately to the Production Manager
• All other duties as assigned by Production Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 1 year of carpentry/framing or related experience is required
• Use and maintain various hand tools and pneumatic tools
• Previous construction experience considered an asset
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the day
• Basic math skills and the ability to use an imperial tape measure is required
• Steel-toed work boots and appropriate clothing to work outside are required, PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
