Job summary

ZyTech Building Systems in Crossfield, AB is seeking a General Labourer / Truss Builder to assemble finished trusses and assist with shop maintenance. You will follow design layouts, inspect lumber, and keep tools and workspace organized while adhering to safety practices.

Ideal candidates are physically capable of lifting, standing for long periods, and performing in a noisy environment. Construction knowledge is an asset and experience with common shop tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with hand tools including nail guns, staple guns and skill saws.
• Ability to lift heavy.
• Understanding of grading & quality of lumber an asset
• Experience in using power tools, sawing equipment specifically an asset
• Ability to work in a high paced environment
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a noisy atmosphere
• Construction knowledge an asset

Responsibilities

• Build truss orders as per standard operating procedures or as dictated by the Truss Shop Supervisor.
• Stack, count and label trusses in correct order
• Prior to building, scrutinized and thoroughly understand the truss design layouts
• Inspect and/or measure precut lumber for proper length and possible damage or other irregularities
• Thorough and complete organization of tools, materials, workstation and cleaning and/or disposal of wastage
• Regular inspection and maintenance as required for tools and machinery and report any problems or irregularities
• Adhere to safe work practices while doing routine lifting, hammering, and getting up and down off the jigs
• Performs other job-related duties as required

ZyTech is looking for a General Labourer / Truss Builder for our Crossfield, AB location. The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate assembly of finished trusses as well as participating in routine truss shop maintenance.

Day Shift and Night Shift Available!

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Build truss orders as per standard operating procedures or as dictated by the Truss Shop Supervisor.
• Stack, count and label trusses in correct order
• Prior to building, scrutinized and thoroughly understand the truss design layouts
• Inspect and/or measure precut lumber for proper length and possible damage or other irregularities associated with quality control and standard operating procedures.
• Thorough and complete organization of tools, materials, workstation and cleaning and/or disposal of wastage.
• Regular inspection and maintenance as required for tools and machinery and report any problems or irregularities immediately to the Branch Manager.
• Adhere to safe work practices while doing routine lifting, repetitive hammering motions and getting up and down off the jigs.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Exposure to dust and saw-dust, dirt and extreme changes in temperature and weather.
• Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required.
