Position Summary
Reporting to the Coordinator of Theatre, the Stagehand - Flyperson/Rigger will plan, establish, and maintain the safe and efficient installation of all rigging and acrobatic equipment for productions, in accordance with the Director and Designer's vision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate all rigging as needed to run performances and rehearsals.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and long-term inspection and maintenance schedules.
- Keep the stage, backstage, and shop areas related to rigging equipment clean and organized.
- Establish emergency contingency procedures for show systems with Stage Management and the technical team, and ensure all are trained and familiar with these procedures.
- Advise divisions on overhead safety and fall protection; develop and practice rescue procedures for high work areas.
- Participate in special projects/events as required.
- Coordinate with other divisions onstage to run performances and rehearsals.
- Perform lighting and sound functions as required.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and City policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Be available for standby duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma.
- Post-secondary certification in a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with single purchase fly systems, manual counterweight systems, acrobatic rigging, theatrical rigging, and inspection routines.
- Experience in similar positions on large-scale productions.

- Experience operating a scissor lift with safety procedures knowledge.
