Job summary

Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC) in Ottawa is seeking an Assistant Technical Director for the 2026-27 season. This full-time, seasonal role reports to the Production Manager and Technical Director and supports a 5-person IATSE crew on Mainstage and Studio productions.

The position involves set construction, lighting and sound duties, and collaboration with designers to bring productions to the highest artistic standard.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in technical/production field or equivalent work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of best practices in stagecraft and theatre production.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill technical activities and expenditures for the company in collaboration with leadership.
• Oversee regular and part-time production crew.
• Support a diverse range of disciplines including scenic, props, wardrobe, maintenance and sewing.
