Serving thousands of customers globally, our solutions are playing a crucial role in modernizing digital investigations, helping investigators fight crime, protect assets, and guard national security.

If you think you would be the right person to join our team working towards this goal, we would love to hear from you!

Role Overview

A Staff UX Designer is an advanced individual contributor with a broad sphere of influence, expected to lead design initiatives both directly and through other designers. They serve as visionaries, strategists, and mentors within the design team, shaping product direction, influencing organisational decisions, and driving user-centred innovation at scale.

You thrive in ambiguity, excel at solving complex problems, and lead through expertise and influence rather than authority. You bring deep experience in UX strategy, interaction design, and systems thinking, with a passion for creating intuitive, trustworthy, and effective AI and agentic experiences. You are equally comfortable defining long-term experience vision, guiding product strategy, mentoring other designers, and partnering with Product and Engineering leaders to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.

NOTE: Candidate must reside in Canada.

Why Join This Team?

You'll have the opportunity to define the next generation of AI and agentic experiences that help customers solve complex investigative and operational challenges. Also, you will work alongside Product and Engineering leaders as a strategic partner, influencing company direction while remaining deeply connected to customer needs.

As a Staff UX Designer, you'll shape experiences that span products, teams, and emerging technologies while helping establish Magnet's vision for trustworthy, effective AI. You'll join a collaborative culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and user-centred design, giving you the opportunity to create meaningful impact at both product and organisational scale.

What You'll Do
Define Experience Strategy & Vision
  • Own the long-term UX vision and strategy for AI and agentic capabilities across Magnet's products.
  • Shape how users interact with AI systems, agents, and intelligent workflows, ensuring experiences are intuitive, transparent, and effective.
  • Drive cohesive experiences across products, platforms, and customer journeys.
Lead Through Strategic Partnership
  • Serve as the UX leader within a Product, Engineering, and Design triad responsible for domain success.
  • Influence roadmap planning, product strategy, and technical direction from the earliest stages of discovery and planning.
  • Ensure user experience considerations are embedded in key product and architectural decisions.
Drive Complex, Cross-Platform Initiatives
  • Lead the design of high-impact initiatives that span multiple teams, products, and workflows.
  • Establish new interaction paradigms, design patterns, and experience frameworks for AI and agentic capabilities.
  • Create seamless end-to-end experiences across Magnet's ecosystem.
Champion Design Excellence
  • Define and maintain UX standards, design principles, and interaction models for AI experiences.
  • Partner with design system leaders to ensure consistency, accessibility, usability, and scalability.
  • Raise the quality bar through critiques, reviews, and design leadership.
Mentor & Amplify Impact
  • Coach and mentor designers across the organisation.
  • Lead design reviews, share best practices, and elevate design maturity across teams.
  • Extend your impact through influence, collaboration, and thought leadership.
Leverage Research & Customer Insights
  • Guide research strategy and ensure customer insights inform product direction.
  • Partner with UX Research to identify opportunities, validate concepts, and measure outcomes.
  • Define success metrics and continuously improve user satisfaction, efficiency, and trust.
Advocate for the User
  • Represent the voice of the customer in strategic and executive discussions.
  • Influence decision-making through evidence, design expertise, and compelling storytelling.
  • Champion user-centred design principles to ensure experience quality remains a core business priority.
What We’re Looking For
  • 8+ years of experience in UX, product, interaction, or service design.
  • Proven experience leading complex product initiatives from strategy through delivery.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, strategic influence, and end-to-end product design.

  • Experience using research, data, and customer insights to guide product decisions.
Nice To Have
  • Experience designing AI, agentic, conversational, generative AI, or human‑AI collaboration experiences.
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles, trust, explainability, transparency, and human oversight.
  • Experience designing enterprise SaaS products, complex workflows, or investigation and analytics platforms.
