You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces, translating user insights into design solutions and ensuring design consistency and adherence to standards.

Want to work on a team that makes a meaningful impact on society? Have a desire to collaborate with an awesome team? We look forward to seeing your application!

NOTE: Candidate must reside in Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead UI and Interaction Design Process: Design and refine user interfaces and interactions from concept through wire-framing, prototyping, and usability testing, ensuring usability and consistency with product requirements and user needs.
  • User Research & Testing: Perform usability testing to inform design decisions and improve the user experience.
  • Divergent thinking and ideation: Proactively generate and explore a wide range of UI and interaction design ideas, naturally considering multiple options during the design process.
  • Critical reasoning: Challenge assumptions and rigorously evaluate multiple design solutions and justify choices with clear, logical reasoning using both qualitative and quantitative evidence.
  • Experiment-focused designs: Rapidly prototype small experiments for hypothesis testing and iterative design cycles. Break down the ideal experience into minimal, testable slices for validation.
  • Design Artifacts: Create various design artifacts, including wireframes storyboards, user flows, sitemaps, and prototypes.
  • Design System: Contribute to the development and maintenance of our design system and style guides to ensure consistency across our platform and products.
  • Collaborative: Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate user needs and business requirements into intuitive and functional designs.
  • Team growth: Actively participate in team design critiques and feedback sessions, sharing knowledge and expertise to elevate the quality of UI solutions across the team.
  • Advocacy: Champion the user’s needs and advocate for user-centered design practices within the company.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, conduct competitive analysis, and explore new approaches to UX design and testing.
  • Communication: Articulate the reasoning behind design choices to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in UI Design, Digital Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of UI design experience (including creating solutions for web and desktop applications).
  • Data Driven: Proven experience in working with quantitative data, including defining key metrics to track and deriving actionable insights from the results.
  • Design Leadership: Proven experience in UI design, including leadership or senior-level roles.
  • Visual Communication: Demonstrated ability to clearly convey ideas, concepts, and design intent through visual means to ensure information is easily understood by users and stakeholders.
  • Visual Design Principles: Strong grasp of foundational visual design principles—including figure-ground, grouping, hierarchy, and Gestalt laws—to create clear, intuitive, and visually engaging user interfaces.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and present design solutions.
  • Problem-solving: Proven ability to identify UI challenges and craft visually compelling, user-centered interface solutions that enhance usability, accessibility, and consistency across digital products.
  • Adaptability: Capable of quickly learning and adapting to new technologies.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity, adhering to WCAG standards.
  • Experience using AI-powered prototyping tools to accelerate design workflows. Able to assess when and how to apply these tools effectively while maintaining the integrity of the UI design process.
