Health Standards Organization (HSO) is seeking a Staff Technologist to lead planning, coordinating, and conducting accreditation activities for medical laboratories and diagnostic imaging facilities across Canada and beyond. Qualifications

  • Designation as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT).
  • Member in good standing with a relevant professional college (e.g., CMLTO).
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent Laboratory Medicine experience.
  • Must have a valid Government issued driver’s license.
  • Fluency in both French and English (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in accreditation assessments and analyze accreditation evidence.
  • Review submitted self-assessments and corrective actions.
  • Review and revise accreditation requirements as needed.
  • Monitor quality of accreditation procedures and drive process improvements.
  • Attend regular meetings with staff, stakeholders, client personnel and advisors/consultants.
  • Travel at least 30% nationally and internationally to support activities.
  • Support market development and generate new business opportunities.

About The Role

The Staff Technologist is a key member of the ISO 15189 Plus Program team. This team is responsible for delivering ISO 15189 Plus accreditation services to medical laboratories and diagnostic imaging facilities across Canada and internationally, supporting excellence in quality management, patient safety, and diagnostic service delivery.

The Staff Technologist is responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting assessment activities for medical laboratory accreditation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordination of, and participation in, accreditation assessments and the analysis of accreditation evidence following assessments.
  • Review and analysis of submitted self-assessments and corrective actions.
  • Review and revise accreditation requirements.

  • Minimum 30% travel required (national/international) to support accreditation activities.

Must Have Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of recent Laboratory Medicine experience
  • Must have a valid Government issued driver’s license
  • Native or advanced fluency in both French and English (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Word and Excel.
