Job summary

Asana seeks a staff-level Technical Lead to drive execution and technical vision for our developer platform. You will partner with Product to shape the agentic API experience, set best practices, and mentor engineers across a high-performing team in Vancouver.

The role emphasizes building scalable API foundations, collaborating with multiple engineering groups, and guiding architectural decisions while advancing the developer experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience in large codebases.
• 2+ years leading teams of 5+ engineers.
• 1+ years building public API products or developer platforms.
• Strong communication and delegation skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Interest in AI tools and emerging tech.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical strategy for the API platform within Asana and advocate for engineering-driven investments.
• Drive the team to continuously improve and maintain high-velocity delivery while growing engineers' skills.
• Be a key collaborator with other groups in Engineering and a public face for API engineering across teams.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and User Research to understand developer needs and propose elegant solutions.
• Own and shape API design guidelines and promote self-serve practices for teams.
• Develop across the stack, writing Scala, Javascript, and Typescript to improve developer experiences.
