Job summary

Syndio is seeking a Staff Software Developer for the Essentials team in Calgary. You will own high-performance data workflows, scale complex, distributed services, and build agentic tooling to enable AI-driven workflows while maintaining correctness and observability.

You will mentor others, set testing and performance standards, and collaborate across teams to raise the bar for reliability and speed as datasets grow and client needs evolve.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Experience with distributed, service-based systems.
• Proven ability to optimize performance and scale.
• Experience with orchestration and workflow tooling.
• Strong in Python, Go, Node/JS/TypeScript, Postgres and NoSQL.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize data workflows handling large datasets.
• Own end-to-end performance, including queries, batching, and caching.
• Develop agent tooling for Essentials workflows and evaluation gates.
• Improve testing, observability, and mentoring across the team.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to set and uphold standards.
