Job summary

Verily is seeking a senior software engineer to build modular, interoperable components for precision health data and related platform frameworks. You will work with Go, Python, and Apache Beam to enable scalable data ingestion and processing.

You will design, develop, and deliver new features across the Google Cloud-based tech stack, collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to ETL pipelines and healthcare data standards.

Qualifications

BA/BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years software development experience in industry.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
Experience with GCP, AWS or Azure (GCP preferred).
Proficiency in Go, Java, Python, and/or SQL.

Job description

Build modular, composable, and interoperable platform components, including storage and processing of precision health data and other product framework components across Verily products
Work closely with the development team to design, develop, and deliver new software features across the Verily tech stack
Generate ideas for technical design problems, compare options, and propose solutions
Develop using industry-standard tools including GitHub, Google Cloud, Go, Docker, and Terraform

Requirements

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in software development
10+ years experience as a software developer in an industry setting
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively
Expertise in building software and systems on any of: GCP, AWS or Azure (GCP preferred)
Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Go, Python, or JavaScript
Demonstrated experience with Go, Java, Python, and/or SQL
Proficiency in Apache Beam and its associated technologies for data ingestion and processing
Solid understanding of ETL principles and best practices
Experience with designing and implementing scalable data processing pipelines with Bioquery or other analytics-oriented databases
Education or exposure to healthcare or life sciences, with emphasis on HL7 FHIR
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada
