We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to solve our most difficult technical problems, from architecting robust data pipelines to leading our development of autonomous AI agents. In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding the evolution of our platform by making critical design and implementation decisions across the entire stack. You'll be a hands-on technical leader responsible for ensuring our architecture is scalable and robust while mentoring other engineers and championing best practices.

Work Authorization Requirements

We will only consider candidates who are legally authorized to work in Canada. If you are on a visa, you must have a minimum of three years of work authorization remaining.

Daily Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of core platform features, including data pipelines and agentic AI systems.
• Partner with leadership to define the long-term technical roadmap and make critical architectural decisions.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of high-quality code, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and champion best practices for software development, testing, and deployment across the engineering team.
• Serve as a hands-on technical leader, writing high-quality, high-impact code for our most complex systems.

You Will Thrive in This Role if You Have

• A minimum of 8 years of professional enterprise software development experience (preference for 10+ years).
• Expert-level knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including experience designing and scaling complex, distributed systems.
• Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and distributed data processing systems.
• A strong track record of mentoring other engineers and acting as a technical lead on major projects.
• The ability to translate abstract business requirements into a concrete, scalable technical strategy.
• The ability to work onsite at our Old Montreal office at least 2 days a week.
• Fluency in English (conversational French or willingness to learn is a plus).

Candidates with an Edge Will Have

• A strong background in Generative AI, particularly with LLM-powered agentic systems, at a production level.
• Proven experience leading the architecture and integration of complex third-party APIs (e.g., Shopify, Google Ads, Stripe).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in a high-growth startup environment, with a proven ability to navigate ambiguity and rapid change.
• Mastery of modern development and deployment tools like TypeScript, Firebase, Sentry, ESLint, and CI/CD pipelines.
