Job summary

Google's Cloud Source team is hiring a Staff Software Developer to work on source code management, software supply chain security, and AI-driven developer tooling within Google Cloud Platform.

The role focuses on leading architectural evolution, building AI-enabled lifecycle orchestration, and delivering secure, scalable cloud infrastructure for enterprise and public sector customers. Strong Go and distributed systems experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• 5 years of experience with Cloud APIs or building secure, multi-tenant cloud infrastructure environments.
• 2 years of experience with software supply chain security, OIDC, IAM policy delegation, or cryptographic signing frameworks.
• Experience programming in Go.

Responsibilities

• Support the architectural evolution and influence the future technical direction of Google Cloud's source code management and software supply chain security infrastructure.
• Transition source code management products into an 'AI-first' era by developing capabilities that enable agents to autonomously orchestrate the software development lifecycle.
• Design and develop the next generation of managed software supply chain security services at the intersection of systems development and identity security.
• Act as a leader among leaders, partnering with Cloud foundations teams to build and deliver robust platforms that meet stringent security and compliance requirements of enterprise and public sector customers.
• Partner with Product Managers and other Tech Leads to prioritize opportunities, efficiently distribute work to the team, and maintain system reliability by participating in Cloud Source on-call rotations.

About the Team:

As part of Cloud's Application Development Platform, the Cloud Source team manages products that organize source code, track its lifecycle into GCP, and generate actionable data. Their offerings include Cloud SCMs (Secure Source Manager and legacy Cloud Source Repositories), Developer Connect (bridging GCP with third-party SCMs), and the upcoming Software Delivery Trust product providing keyless signing, attestations, and policies to ensure integrity of all development artifacts from source code to production.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• 5 years of experience with Cloud APIs or building secure, multi-tenant cloud infrastructure environments.
• 2 years of experience with software supply chain security, OpenID Connect (OIDC), identity and access management (IAM) policy delegation, or cryptographic signing frameworks.
• Experience programming in Go.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Cloud Run.
• Experience navigating compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP High, IL5, or ITAR.
• Experience with Terraform for automated multi-regional resource provisioning.
• Direct experience integrating LLMs or AI agents into developer tools and workflows.

Compensation:

Canada: $216,000 – $221,000 CAD + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
