Job summary

LiveKit is seeking a passionate Senior / Staff Rust engineer to build the Rust SDK and core modules powering our multi-platform ecosystem. You’ll influence the Rust developer experience and open-source contributions across platforms including Swift, Kotlin, TypeScript, Unity, Node, Flutter, and more.

As a Staff engineer, you’ll shape architectural direction across SDKs and drive technical alignment across teams, delivering high-performance, low-latency real-time systems for producers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Rust with production-quality libraries or SDKs.
• Collaborative and communicative, able to work across teams.
• Experience developing SDKs/libs for multi-platform clients.
• Understanding of testing, CI/CD, and release practices in Rust.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the LiveKit Rust SDK and shared core modules.
• Lead by example, mentoring engineers with less Rust experience.
• Collaborate with client SDKs, agents, cloud teams, and PMs for integration.
• Own testing, CI/CD, and release processes for Rust projects.
• Profile and optimize real-time, low-latency performance.
• Contribute to SDK architecture and long-term direction.
