Principal Rust Engineer

Up to $300K Base Salary + Benefits

(Remote in the U.S. – Pacific or Mountain Time Zones Required)

A leading SaaS company is seeking a Principal Rust Engineer to shape the core architecture of a groundbreaking enterprise platform from its inception.

This greenfield opportunity lies within a high-growth organization with over 6,500 employees and billions in annual revenue. The platform is in its early stages, and the company is assembling a small, elite team of Rust engineers to define its future. Starting with a core group of 8 engineers, the team is set to scale to 100, with the Principal Rust Engineer playing a central role in this expansion.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • The engineer will be a foundational contributor, shaping the platform’s direction from the outset.
  • You will leverage Rust, with a focus on Async Tokio, to build a robust, scalable technology stack.
  • You will influence critical decisions on architecture, observability, testing, and reliability.
  • The role offers the agility of a startup-like environment within the stability of a well-funded enterprise.
  • The engineer will mentor team members, conduct technical reviews, and drive the platform’s long-term vision.

Qualifications Sought:

  • Proven experience in building and scaling multi-tenant SaaS enterprise platforms.
  • Deep expertise in Rust, particularly Async programming, combined with a strong systems background (experience in C, C++, or low-level Java is advantageous).
  • A demonstrated history of guiding systems from initial design through production and ongoing maintenance.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced settings with evolving priorities.
  • Ability to balance technical execution with strategic, product-focused thinking.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $150,000 – $300,000 (based on experience and location).
  • Bonus and/or equity potential.
  • Comprehensive health benefits: medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Generous PTO and company-paid holidays.
