Position Overview:

We seek a highly skilled Staff Production Data Engineer to join our team in a critical, always-on environment. This role suits a proactive, self-driven professional with expertise in data architecture, database administration, cloud engineering, and system reliability.

You will start as a key individual contributor focusing on the performance, scalability, and reliability of our data platforms on AWS and Azure. Collaboration with our Production DBAs and Data Engineers will be essential to support and modernize our systems.

Based on performance, there may be opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and guiding technical strategies, though this is not a formal promotion track.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Production DBAs and Data Engineers.
• Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure high availability and performance of all production data systems.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, network, OS, services, databases, and applications.
• Manage relational databases like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Implement observability tools such as New Relic, dashboards, and alerts.
• Architect and oversee data platforms in AWS, Azure, and private clouds, including services like Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Azure Fabric.
• Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow, Kafka, Debezium, Qlik, SSIS.
• Support real-time and batch data processing needs.
• Collaborate on modernizing legacy systems and integrating new platforms.

Tooling & Automation:

• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure and deployments.

Preferred Skills & Technologies:

• Scripting: PowerShell, Python, Bash.

• 8+ years in data engineering, database administration, or infrastructure roles.
• 3+ years in leadership or senior technical roles.
• Deep knowledge of data architecture, performance tuning, high-availability systems.
