Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.

Actively looking for a new opportunity to work on a team focusing on projects with real business impact? Do you thrive in environments where you can help raise the bar for quality, drive collaboration, and mentor others to reach their full potential? If so, you might be in the right place!

Lightspeed Commerce is seeking a Staff Product Designer to lead the evolution of our advanced catalog search and discovery experience (Catalogue & Procurement) within our fast-expanding retail and wholesale network. This role will transform how merchants, suppliers, and brands discover new products and customers using the NuORDER Catalog.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering user-friendly experiences from complex and varied data sources to effectively commercial outcomes. You confidently identify strategic opportunities that create substantial value, excel in collaborative environments, and lead cross-functional initiatives across the retail value chain.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Problem Solving
  • Lead high-level product portfolio initiatives through hands-on design, contributing significantly to product strategy and vision.
  • Transforming and integrating complex data feeds to create intuitive, and industry leading search and discovery experiences.
  • Understand business objectives to solve highly abstract problems, applying strategic thinking. Shapes the organization to enable teams to solve problems efficiently.
  • Know how to break big problems into smaller experiments to validate assumptions, driving progress.
  • Driving User-Centricity
    • Work with product teams to develop and use design strategies based on data. Ensure designs meet user needs and support business goals. Help create user scenarios and assist in journey mapping and mental model exercises.
    • Independently drive in-squad UX research to generate actionable insights and influence the product roadmap through data-driven recommendations.
    • Advocate for the user while building strong, trusting relationships with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing).
  • Systems Thinking
    • Demonstrate masterful understanding of design system principles and the current state of design within the industry. Define and evolve systems, including typography, color, depth, iconography, illustration, and layout, that work within brand and technical constraints.
    • Understand and implement new design systems, ensuring consistency and efficiency across platforms, and contribute to the systems' continual improvement.
  • Coaching and Collaboration
    • Provide mentorship to product designers and actively influence broader design strategies. Lead end-to-end work with minimal supervision. Manage own backlog independently.
    • Be an exceptional performer with established trust across teams. Lead projects end-to-end and identify new areas of opportunity. Influence beyond their own project scope for broader benefits.
    • Collaborate with designers across product teams to elevate consistency and quality while refining team processes.
    • Have strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with global stakeholders.
    What You Need To Bring
    • 8+ years of design experience from product-driven tech companies, demonstrating measurable impact.
    • Proven ability to set and manage design priorities, guided by product and business needs.
    • Expert knowledge of design systems implementation with demonstrated results improving user experiences.
    • Strong aesthetic judgment informed by deep understanding of visual design principles and industry trends.
    • Successful track record consulting with engineering teams to develop effective, feasible technical solutions.
    • Experience using prototyping and research methodologies to validate decisions and drive product strategy.
